Titanfall: Only Three Types of Titan, Beta Details on the Way

February 3, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The game’s retailer specific pre-order bonuses have also been revealed.

Titanfall will have only three types of the titan, Respawn's community manager Abbie Heppe has revealed on Twitter while studio co-founder Vince Zampella has announced that details of the game's upcoming beta will soon be revealed.

In response to IGN's Ryan McCaffrey's comments on how little information is currently available about the game, which launches next month, Heppe said, "here are not more than 3 titans. Bam! Knowledge :)".

The three titan classes are the light but fast Stryder, the slow but powerful Ogre, and the all-rounder Atlas mech.

Zampella meanwhile has confirmed that beta invites will not be awarded based on pre-orders.

You will not need to have the game preordered to get in the beta. I'd give it to them first for supporting us if it were possible tho =)

He also announced that information on the beta should be made available soon.

Waiting for things to be approved before we can announce any more details. Should be soon…

Reports last week suggested that Titanfall's beta will begin on Valentine's Day, February 14th and will conclude on the 19th. The beta will be available on PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One according to the rumours but this has yet to be confirmed.

NeoGAF has unearthed the title's retailer specific pre-order bonuses which are said to be as follows:

  • GameStop: "The Divide" Collectible poster.
  • Best Buy: $10 gift certificate.
  • Amazon: Titanfall Prima Game Guide.
  • Walmart: "First to fall" Tactical patch.
  • Microsoft Store is also offering a $10 Xbox gift card with preorders for all three versions.

Titanfall launches on March 11th.
