Planet Coaster Hits Console Platforms This Holiday Season

June 16, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

Build the ultimate theme park.

Frontier Developments has been around since 1994 and they have developed quite a few tycoons based video game titles. In the past, they released RollerCoaster Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon, both of which gave the ability for players to create these theme parks and zoos from scratch. However, since then the studio opted to bring out a spiritual successor to those franchises with Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo. While both are available on the PC platform, we’re finding out today that Planet Coaster will at least have a console port available soon.

Planet Coaster is exactly what you would expect from a RollerCoaster Tycoon remake for today’s market. It’s by far more detailed, players can tweak the landscapes, place a variety of thrill rides all around the area, establish employees, and make management decisions. Your goal is to make money and keep guests entertained. If you’re a fan of the past installments from RollerCoaster Tycoon but don’t have a PC to enjoy the latest installment, then you could find yourself enjoying Planet Coaster for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The ports will be available this holiday season, which is the same time frame we’ve been hearing for both Microsoft and Sony when it comes to the next-generation console releases.

Furthermore, it’s also stated that this game will receive ports for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms as well at the same time. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we are going to see a release on the Nintendo Switch platform. Likewise, we’re going to be waiting on the video game release date for a little while as both console platforms have yet to make a specific release date on their arrival along with the price point both Sony and Microsoft will be aiming for.

In the meantime, if you own a PC platform, you can enjoy Planet Coaster right now. Until then we’ll keep an eye out for any future developments on these upcoming port releases.
