2K Czech Restructuring, Staff Moving to California Offices

The studio responsible for developing the Mafia series, 2K Czech, is restructuring their development team. Unlike the high body count of most mobster restructuring, 2K shut down the Prague office for a new location in Brno. The studio rumored to head development for Mafia 3 joins the second 2K Czech studio and will also transfer resources to the 2K headquarters in California.

Eurogamer.net reported the relocation would also layoff employees. Some staff members, 10 according to Eurogamer, are moving to the 2K Novato offices in California.

2K responded to the studio's relocation by confirming the move to the Brno offices and some staff moving to the California offices. To explain the move, 2K responded with the following statement.

"This transition will both strengthen the integration of the 2K Czech team with our award winning development teams, and better align cross-functional business practices. As part of this realignment, we are adjusting our staffing levels, resulting in the elimination of some positions."

Mafia 2 released back in 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Mafia 3 was rumored to release for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 under the development of former Epic and Irrational development head, Rod Fergusson.
