Sony’s having a pretty good news day. After revealing that a staggering 4.2 million PlayStation 4s had been sold by the end of 2013, the company updated a few more important figures in order to put the current state of the next-generation platform into perspective.
So far, Sony claims a total of 9.7 million PS4 games have been sold, including both physical and digital copies. The most popular pieces of software include Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, and Sony's own Killzone: Shadow Fall.
It doesn’t stop there, though. Since online gaming on the PS4 requires a subscription to PlayStation Plus, the service has increased its reach by 90 percent worldwide since the console’s launch. A healthy suite of free and discounted games probably helped Sony, too.
Lastly, it was confirmed that more than 1.7 million gameplay sessions have been streamed through the integrated Twitch and Ustream, proving the popularity of that all-important “Share” button.
