Famitsu Shares New Deep Down Details: Greatswords And Dungeon Names

December 30, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

More information is trickling in on details about the upcoming F2P PS4 exclusive.

Famitsu has shared new information on upcoming PS4 exclusive Deep Down, as translated by several sources.

Greatswords are now a new weapon option in the game, aside from having solo one-handed swords, or swords with shields. These swords are held with two hands and output very high damage, albeit with slower movement. Expect a high risk, deeply strategic bent with these weapons.

Capcom is also introducing a new game mechanic called Memento, which is described as the ‘feelings’ that characterize the dungeons. These feelings not only affect the look and feel of these dungeons. They also affect the weapons and armors the players use. We have little information on this mechanic beyond this for now. On the side, you will also be able to customize your own room. The dungeons themselves will have interesting names, such as the Dungeon of Wrath, Dungeon of Sorrow, Dungeon of Anxiety, and Dungeon of Premonition.

Famitsu reveals a new mechanic of finding other players’ corpses when they die, and possibly looting them. While this invites comparisons to Dark Souls, remember that Deep Down distinguishes itself with its always-online, free-to-play, cooperative multiplayer element. Capcom will be designing this loot system with all these elements in mind.
