The Wii U is Just Getting Started, Says Sony

December 19, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida isn’t worried about Nintendo’s slow start.

Sony has a message to all you doom and gloomers out there claiming that Nintendo will be six-feet under in the near future. Although it’s difficult to deny that the sales figures for the Wii U are just not what anyone had hoped for, the software is beginning to find its way to the console. Real games that interest real people are out there, and Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida recently spoke on talk show Kurokawa Juku (translated by Kotaku) about how little the slow start will mean in the end.

"The latest Mario game is really good, too. I think the Wii U is just getting started," Yoshida said. "People can get together and enjoy [the Wii U]; it's got plenty of wonderful games. Nintendo helps raise and teaches the fun of games to people just starting out. I think that's a very important thing in this industry."

Yoshida currently owns two Wii Us, so he’s at least doing his part to support the company. With a few more big releases, we could really see the sales figures for the dual-screen console pick up and become easier to report on.
