Major League Gaming (MLG) saw its viewership grow in 2013 as viewers watched 262% more eSports video than in 2012. The predominantly male audiences watched more than 54 million hours of eSports coverage in 2013.
The average MLG viewer watched 150 hours of each Pro Circuit Championship event. MLG draws comparisons to the NCAA March Madness viewer, who watches 105 minutes during the college basketball event.
An infographic details the six million unique viewers of the eSports circuits, which tripled the hours watched in 2012.
While you shouldn't discount the increased viewership of the MLG Pro Circuits, the inclusion of MOBAs such as DOTA 2, means that a single match can easily exceed 40 minutes compared to the relatively short matches of games like Halo orCall of Duty.
Infinite Crisis also joined the MLG Pro Circuit despite Turbine's continued development. Today Turbine revealed Robin as a new support character.
