Runic Games has unveiled more of its upcoming action RPG with two new features on the game’s official website, both of which revolve around the making of Torchlight II’s world.

First on the list of updates is a new Q&A session with game designers Jason Beck and Patrick Blank, who answer questions about Torchlight II’s level design.

Among other things, the designers revealed that the world would be spruced up with the inclusion of wide open areas, that stretch across the lands of Estheria, Zeraphi, and Ezrohir. Areas range from subtropical green foothills, snowy temples, and desert complexes, to haunted forests, swamps, and ancient Dwarven battlefields.

Every area in the game will be populated by unique landmarks, each of which is tied to a mini-boss to provide players with special challenges. Players will have to go up against a wide variety of monsters that populate each unique environment.

The game will also veer away from the linearity of the original Torchlight with the inclusion of random events that allow players to perform a wide variety of quests, keeping the world exciting for players.

Last but not least, players will be able to try their hand at creating their own world in the game’s TorchED 2 level editor, which allows players to create maps and environments with an easy to use paint tool.

Game designer Patrick Blank delves into the design of the Torchlight II’s world in the related “Making the World of Torchlight II” feature.
