The Division’s Snowdrop Engine Gets Showcased at VGX

December 8, 2013

The Division is powered by a next-gen gaming engine called Snowdrop.

A few days ago Ubisoft released a teaser for the Snowdrop Engine, which powers Tom Clancy's The Division. Today, the developers have released a full-fledged trailer for Snowdrop, which they're calling a 'true next-gen' engine.

As the trailer suggests, the engine captures light realistically in both outdoor and indoor scenes, and surfaces react with unprecedented physical accuracy. It goes on to state all of the engine's powerful features while showing off how The Division looks.

Curiously enough, the game features dynamic, constantly changing weather. That too, is showcased in the demonstration for the engine.

Aside from the engine powering The Division, little else was revealed about the game itself.
