Rainbow Moon Now Available For Playstation Vita

December 4, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Developer East Asia Soft offering discounts for the indie tactical RPG for as low as $ 5.99.

Indie tactical RPG Rainbow Moon is now available for purchase on the Playstation Vita.

Originally released on Playstation 3 last July 2012, it combines elements from both dungeon crawlers and tactical roleplaying games. Aspiring towards classic RPGs of old, the grind is long and hard, the story is straightforward, and many elements, including palette swapped enemies and audio clips, are repeated ad infinitum.

When I say Rainbow Moon plays like a classic game, I don’t mean like Kingdom Hearts, franchises like those are babies. Expect a grind along the lines of Dragon Quest as you start making your way across some difficulty spikes. The first Dragon Quest, on the NES. It’s not quite as bad as a roguelike, as you have a choice in taking some battles, but it can still be a drag.

There are many ways to upgrade your character and many things to collect, but these elements never truly get that deep. In some ways, that’s a good thing, as you don’t get bogged down too much in the details and can progress in the game a little more quickly than you would in a bonafide 80s RPG.

Thankfully, the Vita is getting a much improved version, which also bundles Cross Save support between the Vita and PS3. It also includes additional optional content that can amount to 100 hours worth gameplay, over 50 trophies, and guaranteed Cross Buy for any DLC across both platforms.

Developer East Asia Soft also promises to apply said improvements towards the PS3 version down the line, but for now, you can avail of several deals to get Rainbow Moon for cheap in connection with PS Plus and the PS3. Buy it for as low as $ 5.99! Get more details on that here.
