Battlefield 4 SCAR-H Guide

December 3, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

You can make the SCAR-H the ideal gun for both close and long-range fighting. Learn the setup here.

We’re going through another Battlefield 4 weapon again, this time the Assault Rifle, the SCAR-H.

Regardless of which game you play, the SCAR-H is one of the most popular guns where it is available. It is not a precision tool, like a scalpel, it’s a down and dirty killing blade, like a katana.

At its best, SCAR-H can take as much as 34 damage per bullet, for a 3 bullet kill. This is the highest for any assault rifle. That goes down by 2 damage every 10 meters. So, just moving 10 meters away makes full health kills require 4 bullets every time.

The damage dropoff with range is actually insignificant, all things considered, so the SCAR-H can be adapted to different playstyles very easily. It does good damage at both short and long range, and with the proper loadout you can make it a jack of all ranges. The important thing is to equip the gun with proper attachments to improve both short and long range performance.

So, you’ll want a laser to improve hip firing accuracy, possibly the Tri Beam Laser or Laser Sight. This will mean the difference in winning close up gunfights. With a laser, you can win even if they shoot first, so it is that important to have one.

For the barrel, you will want to use either the suppressor or flash suppressor. The flash suppressor reduces or removes bullet flash without penalties, while the suppressor will take you off the radar. You should be able to deal with the suppressor’s downside of hip fire and long range accuracy if you have the experience.

You will want to have either an angled or folding grip to reduce recoil from the 1st bullet as much as 33 %. This time, this choice will make the difference in long range combat. With the SCAR-H, your first 2 bursts mean 4 bullets. If you can guarantee that first burst strikes the target, the second one will as well, so that’s a guaranteed kill every time.

You can adapt the SCAR-H as a ‘pure’ long range or close range gun as well, but we won’t get into that here, since it shines best as a balanced gun. If you are interested in that, check out the video above.
