The Joker is one of the most anticipated DLC characters to join Nether Realm Studio’s critically acclaimed fighting title — Mortal Komabt 11.
With his debut set for tomorrow on all platforms, players are in pure hype mode to finally get their hands on him. However, do note that tomorrow is the early access release for the Joker, his official release for everyone will be February 4th.
Dominic Ciancolo Story & VO Director at NetherRealm Studios took to the PlayStation Blog to talk a little more about the Joker before his release tomorrow. According to Ciancolo, this is the most darkest portrayal of the character for the studio to date.
This version of the Joker will come with a ton of comic book references such as his clown hammer fatal blow which is a nod to the beating of Jason Todd in the classic comic book storyline from Batman: A Death in the Family. However, that won’t be all, there will be a ton of events that reinterpret famous comic book panels, dialogue that pays tribute to The Joker’s most memorable speeches and moves and moments .
NetherRealm Studios didn’t stop the DC Comics fun with the Joker, as they created a couple of skins for some characters as well. We get to see a Catwoman, Killer Croc, and Apokolips! Check out the official details from NetherRealm down below:
The Mortal Kombat 11 crossover with DC Comics doesn’t end there, however. Our studio had a lot of fun designing new skins that mashup characters from the two universes.
It’s almost Halloween in January as Kitana plays the sleek Katwoman of Outworld, Baraka transforms into the reptilian Killer Croc and Geras is reborn as the Time Lord of Apokolips, a perfect nod to Darkseid. The creative team’s favorite character skin though has to be The Batman Who Laughs version of Noob Saibot as the menacing Darkest Knight. It’s really a perfect blend of the characters and a perfect fit for Mortal Kombat 11.
The Joker and the DC Comics Skins will be available tomorrow on all platforms thanks to the early access tier. However, if you rather wait, the release for the skins and Joker is pushed to February 4th.
