PS4 Vita Bundle to Go On Sale From Tonight for Less Than £500

November 28, 2013 by Stephen Daly

The availability of the ‘Ultimate’ bundle will be determined by PS4 stock levels however.

Sony UK boss Fergal Gara has confirmed to Eurogamer that a PlayStation 4/Vita bundle will be available from select retailers starting tonight.

Gara described the package as a "soft bundle", meaning that the two consoles will come in their own boxes rather than as a single unit and the availability of the package will be determined by how much PS4 stock retailers have.

He added that the bundle costs less than £500 which works out at €600 or $817. It's almost certain that if the bundle is rolled out to the US, it will cost significantly less than the exchange rate suggests.

Speaking about the bundle Gara said:

"We're working with our retail partners to put across that proposition as well as we can.

"It'll come to market in a few different shapes and guises. You may walk in and get a great deal on 'buy a Vita when bought with' type deal. So if you buy a PS4 you can get a Vita for X. And others will say, well here's the Ultimate Bundle and you get all those bits in it.

"But as a base price point, in other words for the two consoles, we expect the gamer to be able to pick that up for under £500. It's not a hard bundle pack at this point in time. It's us working with the retailer to effectively deliver a soft bundle."

The PlayStation 4 costs £349 in the UK while a Vita is around £180 meaning a saving of at least £30. The PS4 is €399 but it's unclear if the bundle will be available in the Euro region.

Elsewhere, Gara has hinted that the PS4 will have a shorter life cycle than the PS3.
