Don’t Expect Xbox Game Pass To Raise Subscription Prices

January 7, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

Phil Spencer assures everyone that the prices are not being raised.

The Xbox Game Pass has been quite a successful service for Microsoft. If you’re not familiar with the service, this subscription allows players the ability to play a wide selection of video game titles on the Xbox One and PC platforms. Best of all, Microsoft exclusives have landed on the subscription service during their launch dates which makes it quite a desirable service for gamers that don’t necessarily have the ability to go out and purchase every new game each month.

Likewise, because the games are also scattered from exclusives to third-party titles, there are plenty of game titles choices for players to choose from. With it, the subscription has two models that will either allow players to enjoy the subscription service on the Xbox One or both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC platform. This subscription can also cost as little as $9.99 which certainly has a lot of people assuming that Microsoft is dropping prices down to get subscribers before jacking the prices up.

That’s not the case as Xbox head, Phil Spencer, recently had a talk with the publication Stevivor. During the conversation, Phil Spencer spoke of how the subscription service has been very good for Microsoft and the subscriber base has doubled year over year. With more people jumping on board, it doesn’t seem like Microsoft will have any reason to drop the service for players or raise the prices to keep it sustainable.

Again, Phil Spencer was quick to dismiss the rumors going around that Microsoft is going to raise prices. These prices are not going anywhere, though you can expect some promotional deals from time-to-time. In fact, there have been deals in the past where new subscribers can jump into the service for as little as a single dollar for their first-month subscription. With this news now circulating online, perhaps we may see more players take the plunge into the Xbox Game Pass service.
