DICE Announces Upcoming Battlefield 4 Patches To PS4, Xbox 360, And PC

November 18, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

No concrete details on any of these patches yet, but DICE wants us to know they’re aware of the issues and are on the job.

DICE has posted a brief update today about planned patches incoming for the Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and PC versions of Battlefield 4.

Regarding the Playstation 4, DICE has nothing concrete to share, aside from acknowledging that they are aware that the game is experiencing frequent crashes on the newly launched system. DICE claims they are still identifying issues and are promising an update by early next week.

We won’t belabor the point too much, but EA earlier made a statement blaming a big deal of game instability on the new system on update 1.5, and quickly retracted it soon after. It is not quite fully clear if EA posted that message in error, or retracted for the sake of correcting a PR gaffe, but in either case, this message seeks to reassure that DICE will make sure the game will be fixed for the PS4.

On the other hand, the Xbox 360 game update is nearly done, and is now in the process of final testing. DICE hopes to have this one out very soon, so it would be reasonable to see it in a day or two.

Finally, the PC version is said to take care of a number of remaining issues in the game. They again cannot provide a complete timetable, but promise to share details and estimated release date as soon as they can.

Of course, the PS3 version is conspicuous in its absence, and it is not like that that version of the game does not have bugs either. DICE may simply have too much on its hands dealing with the three consoles named above, but we hope they will also give that platform much needed attention soon.
