Battlefield 4: Make The Most Of The EOD Bot

November 17, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Get the most out of the little bugger before it goes short circuit.

Battlefield 4’s EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Bot is a quirky little automaton that Engineers can get to help repair allies’ vehicles from a distance, and seems to be most suitable for Rush mode. However, the bot is more versatile than it appears, and getting the most out of it is a matter of understanding what it is fully capable of.

Not being a true, sentient, self-aware robot, the EOD Bot defies Asimov’s three laws and can destroy as much as it can repair. It can destroy enemy vehicles like tanks, and even kill enemy infantry if you really needed it to. The repair tool is a surprisingly effective weapon, although of course you will want to use this ability sparingly. Best to strike enemies unaware as its small size makes it a hard target.

What you will want to do is have an allied vehicle follow it around to help keep its health up when combat situations arise. When it comes down to it, the bot is harder to kill than you are, so having it around can afford you some extra protection.

The EOD Bot can also easily do reconnaissance duty, if you press Q to spot. However, the best ability the bot has is its ability to arm/disarm objectives. You can use this ability to set up ambushes; for example, have the bot arm the objective in Paracel Storm, forcing the enemy to come towards you.

So, the moment you get the EOD Bot unlocked, make sure to think of it as a multipurpose tool, or if you want, as a member of your squad even.
