We have a new trailer for The Last Of Us’ latest DLC. This time, you get to play as Ellie in the prequel storyline, Left Behind.
Left Behind is set way before the events of the main game, in the Boston quarantine zone where Ellie is at military boarding school. There, players will get to meet and learn more about Riley, Ellie’s best friend and mentor figure. Much like The Last Of Us was about exploring the relationship between Ellie and Joel, Left Behind will be all about learning more about Ellie and Riley, and a few intense life changing events that will play out in the game.
There will also be a companion comic book that goes back even further than that, to when Ellie and Riley met and how they 1st became friends. Called The Last Of Us: American Dreams, the series was published by Dark Horse comics and recently came out in trade paperback. The series is written by Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman and illustrated by Canadian webcomic illustrator Faith Erin Hicks.
Left Behind is coming early 2014, and will be available for preorder this November 19 for $ 14.99. If you already ordered the season pass, it will come bundled with all the multiplayer DLC scheduled for it. This makes the season pass a 75 % savings off the price.
Taking Ellie’s perspective means this first single player expansion will have a radically different tone than the original game. Fans who had some misgivings about playing Joel will want to give this a try.
