X Rebirth is out today for the PC. It's the latest title in the long-running series of space sims that's beguiled and enthralled the PC gaming community for years now. Needless to say, the latest title has seen quite a bit of fanfare over its release.
Unfortunately, not all is well with the game, as many gamers are reporting that they are facing severe framerate and stuttering issues with the game on the Steam forums. The official forums appear to be offline at the moment.
There are also widespread reports of players unable to launch the game.
To that end, there is a temporary fix that should get your game to run, if you're facing this issue.
– right click the audio icon in your system tray and select Playback Devices
– select the playback device you are using
– click Properties
– go to the Advanced tab
– in the Default Format dropdown choose "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)"
– click OK
– run the game
