Diablo 4 Will Require Constant Online Connection

Nov 4, 2019 Dennis Patrick

No offline mode will be supported.

There were a few announcements from BlizzCon 2019, but arguably for most the biggest reveal was Diablo 4. A brand new mainline installment is in the works after the crowd reception was less than welcoming to its mobile platform title, Diablo Immortal. Diablo 4 has plenty of fans eager to jump into the latest dungeon crawler title, but there does appear to be at least one issue that has fans quite disappointed and its the internet connection requirements for Diablo 4.

In the past, we’ve seen some issues with video game titles release with a requirement of always being connected to the internet. From having an iffy internet connection or just living without internet in general, some fans who were planning on an offline single-player experience with Diablo 4 may be left out with this upcoming installment. After the announcement of Diablo 4, a panel was present to answer questions, one of the members from Diablo 4 that took questions was Angela Del Priore, who is the lead designer of Diablo 4. GameSpot reached out and asked if this game would be able to play offline in which Angela Del Priore confirmed that there wouldn’t be an option for offline gameplay regardless of the platform.

This means that even the console versions will also require an online connectivity mode. While players will have to connect online, it does look like there is still a single-player experience, so you won’t have to party up with other players as you progress through the game campaign. Currently, there is no release date attached to Diablo 4 quite yet, but you can take a look at the latest announcement trailer for the game posted above.
