DICE’s Gustav Halling has responded to an inquiry on Twitter regarding Battlefield 4, confirming that their priority for the moment is fixing netcode.
If you may remember, we shared a troubleshooting guide not so long ago, but this was meant to primarily handle issues with the getting the game to run. Players are complaining about multiple issues with multiplayer, with many lumping their complaints under the general term netcode.
Aside from that odd thead trying to explain to fans what netcode actually is, complaints still revolve around game stability on reddit. There are posts pointing out they are spending as much time trying to get the game to work as they are actually playing it. Others say when the game crashes on them, they lose their progress, making the experience that much more frustrating. Of course, this has renewed speculation on why the game was released in this state. One has blamed EA for the issues again, alluding to last year’s problems with Maxis and their always-online installment of SimCity.
@THE_ASYLUM_Clan The netcode issues I've seen in a few videos is a top priority for us so we are working on it 🙂

However, based on Gustav’s tweet, they are sure netcode is the issue, based on problems they have seen watching gameplay videos up on YouTube. In fact, their forum post regarding ongoing Battlefield fixes clearly explains they are now working on the next server update for improving stability.
@Jugulator__95 @THE_ASYLUM_Clan Unfortunately not, we have to wait for official info for any patch dates.

On a follow up tweet, Gustav clarified they still can’t give details on when the next update is coming or other details. This is only to be expected, but DICE’s problem now is salvaging the game fast enough before players lose interest completely. Let’s hope they get it all under control soon.
