GOG Promotion Sees 100% of Revenues Donated to Charities

November 5, 2013 by Stephen Daly

$5 donated will go to one of three charities thanks to GOG campaign.

Digital games service GOG.com has announced a new charity drive which will see $5 donated to one of three charities – the WWF, Worldbuilders, and Gaming for Good.

To take part users need to buy three games and make the donation which GOG says will always be $5 as the service will be spending $0.25 on every dollar committed to ensure that 100% of the money donated goes to good causes.

Games including FTL: Faster Than Light, The Whispered World, and Waking Mars are among those on offer as part of the promotion. Explaining how the process works GOG wrote in a press release that:

"Gamers can pick 3 or more games and donate $5 or more to one of three charities on GOG.com.

"In order to make sure that a $5 donation doesn't end up becoming a $5 donation minus credit card fees, VAT, and other expenses, the independent digital distributor will be spending nearly $0.25 on every dollar raised to make sure that every $5 donation equals $5.00 given to charity."

The WWF is dedicated to the protection of animals and eco-systems while Worldbuilders looks to eradicate poverty and hunger around the world. Gaming for Good seeks to help impoverished, marginalized, and vulnerable children and families in nearly 120 countries.
