A lot of indie titles take a last minute turn and accept Epic Games Store exclusivity lure. However, Everspace 2 developer Rockfish Games promises to not fall into it and will deliver the title on Steam first, as promised in their Kickstarter campaign.
The developer’s latest Kickstarter statement commented on other studio’s “broken promises,” where they state their will to deliver their titles on Steam first then switch to Epic Games Store closer to release.
Finally, we have noticed that since our last Kickstarter, things have changed quite a bit. Due to broken promises from indie devs all the way to AAA publishers, it is probably no exaggeration to say that trust in developers is at an all-time low, especially in regards to Epic Games Store exclusives of titles that were originally (co)funded on Kickstarter. Ironically, one of the main reasons why we are doing another Kickstarter is to double-down on our promise that Everspace 2 will launch on Steam first, no matter what.
Everspace 2 fans still have to wait till 2021 to see the title drop on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. What do you think of Rockfish Games’ statement?
