id Software's upcoming first person shooter RAGE will include molding tools and level design software out of the box for owners of the game on the PC.
According to the game's creative direct Tom Willits, the tools will allow players to modify existing levels and create new ones.
"Pull down the console, type 'id studio, then press enter. Then, bam, there's all the tools we use," said Willits in an interview with PC Gamer.
Accessing the tools will be simple, but learning to master will be a lot more difficult for the average user.
"Building levels from scratch is more difficult, because we have a layer system in some of the levels," he said. "I can foresee somebody molding up Wellspring and adding different characters, giving them different voice-over."
"It's built into the engine," said Tim Willits of the game's modding tools.
Needless to say, it may not be easy to use, but anyone with time and patience will be able to make full use of it.
