Blizzard Announces Heroes of the Storm, Formerly Known as Blizzard All-Stars

October 17, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

Blizzard has announced a new name for the game formerly known as Blizzard All-Stars.

heroes of the storm

The game formerly known as Blizzard All-Stars, which itself was formerly known as Blizzard DOTA, is now known as Heroes of the Storm.

Blizzard released a new video today—a cartoon, to be precise—to announce the game's new name change. It depicts three characters: one from each of Blizzard's popular series—Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo, as they greet the new name.

You can watch the video below. It's pretty amusing.

Surprisingly, the game shares the same acronym as another Blizzard title: Heart of the Swarm. You'd think that they could have at least changed things up a little for all the confusion this will undoubtedly create.
