As you can see, Lumiose is dense with locations, and you will find yourself going all over, but its centralized, circular structure should make it easy to memorize. Just remember what spot in the circle you plan to go to.

Fans are recommending that if you’re generally having trouble getting around, you should go ahead and use taxis. While it may be a bit too expensive at the start, by the time you get halfway, the average price of 700 to 3K is not going to break the bank, especially if you have the amulet coin.
