Dragon Age: Inquisition Sex Scenes are More Tasteful, Dropping Lacy Panties

October 14, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

All the awkwardness of the first game’s love scenes will be removed in the upcoming Inquisition.

Remember the uncomfortable sex scenes in Dragon Age: Origins? Unfortunately, if you played the massive RPG, you probably haven’t forgotten the awkward "romantic" moments where characters attempted to get close. The bizarre lacy panties female characters donned and silence of the nameless protagonist didn’t exactly encourage romance, and that’s something that will change when Dragon Age: Inquisition hits next-generation consoles late next year.

Gamerzines had a chance to sit down with cinematic director, Jonathan Perry, and talk about the future of this BioWare series. As you’d guess, the love scenes came up.

“In Dragon Age: Origins we had characters crawling around in their underwear, and it looked weird because they were wearing these lacy Victoria Secret panties and outfits which looked out of place. Certainly, when you have these characters interacting with each other in such an intimate way, it’s incredibly expensive in terms of animation fidelity and getting it to look like they are really there and touching each other,” Perry explained. “I think Mass Effect’s scenes were done really well, and I think we will take Inquisition’s scenes in that direction. You might have a nude character but they are framed in such a way that parts of them are in shadow, or having characters in various states of undress.”

As with all BioWare games, these interactions will be the result of story progression and strong relationships with particular characters.

“We also want to focus not just on the sex itself, but also that this is the culmination of spending a lot of time with a character and getting to know them, and so we’re giving scenes a mature and tasteful treatment I guess,” he continued. “We’ll see where it goes for Dragon Age: Inquisition, it’s something that we’re working on right now so we’ll see how these scenes pan out.”

Really, anything is better than what we saw in the first game, and it sounds like BioWare understands that.
