BioShock Infinite DLC Adds New Gameplay Features, Classic Weapons Wheel

October 9, 2013 by Stephen Daly

The original BioShock’s weapons wheel is set to make a return for Burial at Sea.

In a Reddit AMA Irrational head Ken Levine and level designer Andres Gonzalez revealed that the upcoming Burial at Sea DLC for BioShock Infinite will feature new gear and weapons as well as the original BioShock's weapon wheel.

Gonzalez noted that while Burial at Sea is very much about story players will have access to a new plasmid and tears as well the ability to upgrade weapons and plasmids.

"Because we wanted to bring players to Rapture before the fall, we basically rebuilt Rapture from scratch and reworked the gameplay systems to offer a unique experience that has elements of the original BioShock, but is built in the BioShock Infinite engine. What we ended up with was an experience that feels new and unique."

He went on to say that Irrational hopes players will come to see Rapture as a character more than as a setting.

"We spent a lot of time figuring out how to build Rapture before the fall, and thought a lot about how the citizens would behave in Rapture and the kinds of things they would say and do. As you play it, I'd encourage you to walk around and really take it in. There is a lot of attention to detail in the spaces we built."

Levine would not be drawn on whether the Lutece twins will be making a return for Burial at Sea or it Rapture's founder, Andrew Ryan, would be somehow involved.

The average playthrough of Burial at Sea will last between two and three hours, they revealed.

Yesterday, the first five minutes of Burial at Sea Episode One was released as well as the DLC's achievements.
