While Supergiant Games continues to develop Transistor, the DualShock 4 controller changed how players interacted with Red's mysterious weapon.
As players listen to Red's speaking weapon, they will notice the sword flash in sync with the speech. Utilizing the DualShock 4 light bar, Supergiant Games replicated the sword's emanating hue so players will see the PS4 controller flash in their hands.
The developers on Thief 4 also noticed the light bar and used it as an indicator for stealth segments. If a player enters the shadows, the light bar will dim. Enter light or a guard's field-of-view and the DualShock 4 will glow.
To learn more about the early 2014 PS4 and Steam release, Greg Kasavin of Supergiant Games spoke with us about Transistor's combat and the direction of the narrative.
