On Monday Sony made a surprise announcement of the $100 PS Vita TV micro console and early indications from Japan suggest the device will get off to a very good start in Sony's home market at least.
As noted by DualShockers both the standard package – the console by itself – and the value pack which adds an 8GB memory card and DualShock 3 controller are currently sold out on Amazon Japan.
The system is due to be released in the country on November 14th. The basic system will retail for 9,954 yen while the bundle costs 14,994 yen.
PS Vita TV allows users to play 1,300 PS Vita, PSP, and PS One games as well as PS4 titles using remote play. The device also supports streaming services like Netflix and Hulu.
A Western release date has not yet been announced. Sony has also revealed a slimmer, lighter PS Vita redesign which is currently only confirmed for Japan and a 64GB memory card for the system. You can see a comparison of the original and re-modelled Vita here.
