Fortnite Pros React Strongly Against Epic Games Banning Stretched Res from Competitive Tournaments

Epic Games released a statement on its blog addressing recent issues with Fortnite, as well as performing some dramatic changes relatively too close to its Fortnite World Cup Warmup.

Well, the statement addressed the long waiting queues in Arena mode, especially for players in higher divisions. As a solution, the studio will put you in a Creative island or a mock match-up to “keep you warmed up” till you enter your designated Arena game. However, they promise to keep looking into the problem, and developing more functional matchmaking logics and algorithms to reduce waiting times.

Not only that, Epic Games officially revealed they are banning stretched resolution from competitive tournaments. The community is outraged to say the least, especially competitive players aiming for the ultimate Fortnite World Cup competition. The change comes just around a week away from the Fortnite World Cup Warmup, with a $500,000 prize pool.

In the near future, we will be updating how we handle custom resolutions on PC. When using a custom resolution, vertical FOV will be locked. Horizontal FOV will be unlocked in all modes, but in competitive playlists (e.g. Arena and in-game tournaments) we will be locking the aspect ratio to 16:9.

Here are some of the reactions from the top pros, streamers, and content creators:
