Epic Games Store is currently offering for free a graphic novel adventure title, called Oxenfree, that certainly sparks your interest in the studio’s other games.
Well, Night School Studios are actually already working on their upcoming title, Afterparty. You take the roles of Milo and Lola, both are recently deceased characters who enter hell, but apparently there is a way out. Players must outdrink Satan to grant them re-entry to Earth, however, this kicks off a truly unique experience where they get to experience the emotional aspect of going to hell. In a recent interview with DualShockers at GDC, Night School Studios Co-Founders Sean Krankel and Adam Hines discussed how Oxenfree will help draw more people to Afterparty when it releases.
In Oxenfree, I think it was fun for people to really dig deeper into the world that we had and the history. You could go pretty deep in terms of tuning into the tour guide stuff and being able to hear the history of the location and ghosts and things. With Afterparty, there’s a lot of references to how hell is run and if you want to you can really go pretty deep into the aspect of what the demons’ jobs are, their relationships with people, why people have died, who’s there, and why.
The tone of Afterparty is very different in that it’s not meant to be a spooky, mysterious thing, it’s a madcap, crazy, raunchy comedy. But, there’s still just a lot of history and weight to all of the characters.
Afterparty is expected to release later this year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Once we have a confirmed release date, we will update our readers. In the meantime, make sure to check out the teaser trailer below for a glimpse on Night School Studios’ upcoming title.
