Left Alive’s Troubled Launch Leads Square Enix To Disable Streaming

March 4, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Poor reception causes discount days into Japanese release.

If you were looking forward to Left Alive from development team Square Enix then you may need to set your standards down a bit. Currently, this upcoming third-person action title that was developed as a spiritual successor to the Front Mission series recently launched within Japan. For those who purchased the game, streaming was available. Besides the actual in-game cutscenes, gamers could stream the title to their viewers online. Unfortunately, that capability was apparently taken away and it may be due to the incredibly poor reception it received so far within the market.

Left Alive as mentioned was released in Japan already. The game, however, did not have a strong launch at all and according to the Japanese marketplace for Amazon, the title sits at a 1.8 out of 5 ranking. Fans have been offering criticisms over the game visuals along with mechanics. This actually resulted in the game dropping down in price as well after only being available for purchase for a few days. Apparently, after the reviews started to trickle out and poor reception from the fans that purchased a copy, Square Enix disabled the streaming capabilities on the PlayStation 4.

Now when users attempt to stream, they are met with an error on the YouTube application stating that the game is not authorized to stream. It will be interesting to see if other markets follow the same trend when the game launches as North America and Europe is set to receive the game on March 5, 2019, for the PlayStation 4 and PC platforms. For now, fans who are still looking to give this title a chance can do so tomorrow when the game officially hits the marketplace.
