Ed Boon Teases Johnny Cage For Upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 Release

February 22, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Looks like Johnny Cage is making a return in Mortal Kombat 11.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the next big video game installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise and yet we still have plenty of questions left unanswered. While we know that the game will include time manipulating stories which will likely bring in characters from previous installments along with some costume changes, we’re still holding out to hear about the roster. Only a few characters have been confirmed for the upcoming title and there have even been some suggestions of guest fighters being tossed into the mix, much like how NetherRealm Studios did with Mortal Kombat X. Regardless, while we creep closer and closer to the release date, new teases and reveals for characters are making their way out online.

One of the latest teases is regarding Johnny Cage. The tease came from Ed Boon’s official Twitter account. For those of you who don’t know, Ed Boon is the co-creator and creative director for Mortal Kombat. The tease isn’t much, but it shows a slight glimpse of a hand with a phrase that would come from the character, “Who hired this guy…wtf?”

Now fans are starting to rejoice online that Johnny is back and it’s only a matter of time before a character trailer of images surface from the development team of Johnny in action. This is the only tease we have seen in recent days. Previously, Rhonda Rousey, MMA legend and current WWE superstar, has entered a match sporting off the costume of Sonya Blade, the character she is voicing for the upcoming title.

As it stands right now, Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release on April 23, 2019, for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and lastly, the Nintendo Switch.
