Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Adds Easier Difficulty Modes, Wii U Gamepad Integration

August 9, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Yakuza 1 & 2 HD in Japan tones down the difficulty.

Originally released on the PS2, Yakuza 1 & 2 will release inHD released in Japan for Wii U owners. Along with the improved visuals, the HD remaster will include a new level of difficulty to help more players finish the game.

In an interview with Famitsu.com, Sega explained that they modified the difficulty to allow players to more easily complete both games. With the new Wii U Gamepad features and adjusted difficulty, Sega hopes players could revisit the titles if they failed to complete both Yakuzas the first time.

Some of the adjustments include easier batting cages, more noticeable sign boards and the Heat Up mode will become available to players from the beginning of the game. The Wii U gamepad integration includes things like menu management and maps to layout notable locations.

The HD Wii U bundle will act as "an experiment" for the franchise. Depending on the sales, series producer, Toshihiro Nagoshi, hopes they will gauge the interest of the Wii U audience.

Japanese players can purchase Yakuza 1 & 2 HD now while the rest of the world still waits for a localized release announcement.
