NBA 2K14 Simulation Discussed in New Video

July 30, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

The NBA 2K franchise does its best to mirror the real NBA.

The NBA 2K franchise, at least in its current form, isn’t about bringing arcade-style basketball to modern consoles. Where some sports games are more concerned with improbable passes and dunks from half court, 2K Games does all it can to make its annual franchise an honest representation of the NBA. The fans know this, and two YouTube community leaders, ShakeDown2012 and DaCzar, decided to get together for an extended discussion on the game’s tendency to stick to simulation basketball and not unrealistic play.

Physics, ball movement, and dribbling are just a few of the simulation-based topics that these two experts tackle in the below video. Those who spend a great deal of time with each new NBA 2K title want to see how defensive systems improve, if the passing is more fluid, and a slew of other technical aspects that most casual players wouldn’t even care to consider. With NBA 2K14 just around the corner for both the current and next-generation consoles, the conversation seems pretty apt.

If you’re looking to dig a little deeper into NBA 2K14, both fresh screenshots and the full track list have recently been released. Cover athlete LeBron James was tasked with compiling the music that will be featured in the game, so if you’re curious to see what he and the community thought up, that information is out there.
