Latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Update Brings New Blackout Characters, Signature Weapons, and Black Market; Full Patch Notes Detailed

October 19, 2018 by Jordan Biazzo

Welcome to the Black Market!

Activision and Treyarch have published yet another update for their latest multiplayer shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

The new update comes brimming to the rim with new updates like the all-new Black Market. The Black Market contraband stream is a place players will be able to unlock special skins, emotes, etc by playing both the multiplayer and Blackout mode. It is most similar to Fortnite’s Battle Pass, however, Call of Duty’s version if free all around.

Alongside the Black Market, the update brings new Blackout characters, new specialists outfits, and signature weapons. Check out the full details down below:

The Contraband stream in the Black Market provides a progression path to earn the items you want simply by playing the game. That means a ton of new ways to show off your personal style. Contraband items will be delivered through seasonal Operations, with each Operation delivering a new batch of content every couple of months. Operation First Strike delivers the first season of content starting today on PS4. These Operations bring a ton of great gear and items that everyone can access, including:

  • All-New Blackout Characters– New playable characters will be released with each new Operation.
  • Signature Weapons
  • Specialists Outfits – Cool customization content built around themes for all Specialists in-game; you can even mix and match the look of your character within outfit sets.
  • Tags / Gestures – Whether you’re taunting opponents or celebrating a victory, Tags and Gestures are a perfect way to express yourself in the game.

These rewards provide the ultimate way to show off to friends and express yourself in Multiplayer and Blackout.

Within the Black Market, there will also be limited-time Special Events which bring even more unique content to the game. Starting October 20 on PlayStation 4, with other platforms to follow seven days later, players will have access to a free Halloween-themed Special Event stream with even more gear. That means players can earn even more items as they progress along the stream. This is the first of many Special Events that will be hosted in the future. But remember, get in and earn them while they’re available as they’ll only be around for a limited time.

Finally, there is Blackjack’s Shop coming online in November. This is the place to go for direct purchase of certain pieces of gear with limited availability. The shop refreshes weekly with a variety of Items and gives players another way to get cool content.

The Black Market is available to access on the PS4 right now through the update, however, Xbox One and PC users will have to wait a little longer. No official date has been set, but keep your eyes peeled on Gameranx, as we will be bringing the latest updates as we learn them.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Are you having fun with the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise?
