Nintendo dominates Famitsu and Media Create sales charts

July 24, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pikmin 3, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team are the company’s big sellers

Nintendo is on a roll both this week and this year, as software sales numbers from Media Create for July 15 to 21 and Famitsu (AKA Enterbrain) for the 1st half of this year thus far were revealed today.

On the Famitsu half year end, Nintendo boasts 5.19 million in total sales, with Animal Crossing: New Leaf its biggest individual selling title at 1.37 million units. Its nearest competitors are Namco Bandai, with 3.48 million total sales, and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for the PS3, at 440,000 units.

On Media Create's weekly sales end, 3DS boasts 57,025 hardware units sold, up compared to last week as well as year-on-year. New entries Mario and Luigi: Dream Team and Little Battlers eXperience W: Ultra Custom for 3DS have taken the number one and four spots respectively.

Mario and Luigi: Dream Team boasts a solid 99,972 units sold in its first week, versus Pikmin 3's 92,720 units last week. However, Pikmin 3 still maintains a lead over the 3DS RPG with 121,233 in total sales, and has also kept Wii U sales up by 14,280 units for the week.

To put Nintendo's dominance in perspective, the top 5 games in the Media Create charts are all from them, and the one new entry from PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2: Digital Content Selection, comes in at Number 19 with 4,890 units sold. Wii U is definitely still on that road to recovery, but it's hard to look at all of these and say that the company is struggling.
