Square Enix managed to strike a business-savvy and strategic alliance with Chinese gaming giant, Tencent Group.
Tencent Group, mostly known for their work on online games including CrossFire, Dungeon Fighter Online, helping Riot Games distribute League of Legends in China and even PUBG Mobile, have joined forces with Square Enix to help them co-develop future AAA games.
Square Enix’s Yosuke Matsuda expressed his excitement to work with Tencent, and mentioned how it will help diversify the company’s portfolio and “expand access channels to a wider customer base,” obviously in China.
Tencent Group and Square Enix Group share the vision of utilizing technology and creativity to deliver unprecedented entertainment experiences and services to a global audience. This newly established alliance will be a strong boost to Square Enix Group’s strategy to diversify our content offerings and expand access channels to a wider customer base.
Tencent Group’s Senior Vice President Steven Ma shared Matsuda’s enthusiasm towards the agreement, and continued to discuss how it will benefit both companies mutually.
We have strong expectations for this strategic alliance with Square Enix Group. The alliance will enable us to couple our broad range of internet service capabilities to Square Enix Group’s superb creativity, and provide our customers with unprecedented content experiences on a global basis.
