Nintendo now combining retail and digital Wii U US sales

July 16, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Combining their own digital sales figures with NPD Group estimates.

Gamasutra has revealed that Nintendo of America has started using both physical and digital sales to determine top selling games on their video game consoles. For the physical sales data, Nintendo will still be using information provided by the NPD Group. For digital sales, Nintendo is adding their own information. This data is now reflective of listed Top Sellers on Nintendo's own games page today.

With this in mind, here's a sample of the best selling games on their consoles below

Wii U

New Super Luigi U
New Super Mario Bros. U
Super Mario World
LEGO City Undercover
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Mega Man X
TANK! TANK! TANK!
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Super Mario Bros. 2
Trine 2: Director's Cut

Wii

Just Dance 4
Mario Kart Wii
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Skylanders Giants
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Zumba Fitness Core
Donkey Kong Country Returns
The Hip Hop Dance Experience
Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

Nintendo 3DS

Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Fire Emblem Awakening
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Project X Zone
Mario Kart 7
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Super Mario 3D Land
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Nintendo DS

Pokémon Black Version 2
Pokémon White Version 2
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Kart DS
LEGO Battles: Ninjago
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes
Super Mario 64 DS
Plants vs Zombies

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze

NPD earlier remarked that they would start tracking digital sales with retail, in partnership with the EEDAR. Nintendo's initiative is
preempting these plans, perhaps so that they can be more transparent about their own game sales to the public. NPD Group has received criticism for not providing an accurate picture of total game sales, while Nintendo has been abuzz about the high numbers they have been seeing for digital sales of their games, especially since they intensified online efforts on the 3DS and Wii U.
