Nintendo is bringing their make-it-or-break-it batch of Wii U titles, as well as some key 3DS games, to this year's upcoming San Diego Comic Con. It's a vital time for their marketing for these following months, and this event is definitely no exception.
Nintendo will be at booth No. 235 in the SDCC showroom floor. People who can't go to Comic Con can still go to the Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the nearby San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina Hotel. Games scheduled to appear for these events are as follows:
Wii U
• The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD from Nintendo
• Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze from Nintendo
• Super Mario 3D World from Nintendo
• Pikmin 3 from Nintendo
• New Super Luigi U from Nintendo
• Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games from Nintendo
• Rayman Legends from Ubisoft
• Skylanders SWAP Force from Activision
• Disney Infinity from Disney Interactive
• Sonic Lost World from SEGA
• The Wonderful 101 from Platinum Games
• Bayonetta 2 from Platinum Games
• Just Dance 2014 from Ubisoft
Nintendo 3DS
• Yoshi's New Island from Nintendo
• The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds from Nintendo
• Mario & Luigi: Dream Team from Nintendo
• Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D from Nintendo
• Sonic Lost World from SEGA
• Shin Megami Tensei IV from ATLUS (Index Digital Media, Inc.)
• Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Furthermore, they are planning activities related to Pokemon X and Y, New Super Luigi U and Platinum Games' upcoming action game Wonderful 101. Pokemon X and Y will have a dedicated section in the Nintendo Gaming Lounge, where fans can take photos with a Pikachu mascot as well as participate in some giveaways. To celebrate the Year of Luigi, aside from photo ops with a Luigi mascot and Mario and Luigi:Dream Team giveaways, fans will get to sign into the immense Luigi yearbook, which commemorates Luigi's 30 years.
The Wonderful 101 promotion is definitely the best of the bunch. Fans who go to either W101 booth at Comic Con or the Nintendo Gaming Lounge can get masks based on the W101 characters. Wonderful 101 cosplayers can join a scheduled photo op July 21, 2 PM, as well as join a contest to win a Wii U system with the game come launch.
It may not persuade ore gamers, but between this and advertising at Tour De France, Nintendo is definitely moving to promote their console harder to a broader audience. Hopefully they can do what's needed to bring Wii U into the rebound.
