Mad Max Gameplay Revealed in New Trailer

July 15, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Finally, we get a taste of what Mad Max plays like.

Some licenses just seem to belong to particular developers. The level of violence and over-the-top antics that you associate with our friend Mad Max almost makes too much sense when paired with Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios. The development house has never really worked with the recognizable figure before, but when you look at the Swedish company’s body of work and brash statements concerning the video game industry, it’s hard to not get excited about this fun combination. The announcement of Mad Max was a fun surprise at this year’s E3, and after just a little bit of patience, the first gameplay trailer has been released as a teaser for what’s to come.

Their use of the world “gameplay” might be a bit of a stretch. Although much of the footage in this “Soul of a Man” trailer looks to be running in the game’s engine, none of the third-person, open-world action we expect makes an appearance. Car combat and limitless exploration is what we hope for from the next-generation project, but instead, what we have here is a dramatic introduction to the leading character.

Still, everything about the game looks exciting, and hopefully we’re not too far off from getting our hands on the real thing. Mad Max will launch sometime next year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and while it’s not the rumored Star Wars game or the highly anticipated Just Cause 3, fans of both the developer and the license need to pay attention.
