If you were a fan of the classic Castlevania video game titles then chances are you were really keeping tabs on the upcoming release of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. This is an upcoming video game being developed by ArtPlay and DICO while led by Koji Igarashi, the producer for the Castlevania series. Unfortunately, it looks like the game is being pushed back for a release sometime in 2019.
The video game is said to be a spiritual successor to the series after Koji had departed from the development studio Konami. As a result, the gameplay shares similarities to the iconic franchise though after the beta released the development team felt that they needed to return back into the game and further polish up some of the levels.
News came directly from the Kickstarter campaign in which the developers revealed that their level quality will be looked at and that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will no longer release on the PlayStation Vita. Reasons behind the PlayStation Vita being dropped is due to Sony discontinuing the console and ending production of physical copies along with select online store features.
While its unfortunate that the game is being dropped for the PlayStation Vita platform, developers are giving backers the ability to switch to a different platform choice or they can request a refund.
Outside of releasing in 2019, developers have yet to give the title a specific release date. For now, gamers can enjoy Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, which released as an 8-bit companion game for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
