Microsoft has today revealed on the Xbox Wire that 343 Industires' Halo 4 is the best selling game ever released by Microsoft Studios.
Lisa Gurry, the Wire's editior, wrote, "Exciting news for the Halo team at 343 Industries and Microsoft Studios – critically acclaimed, 'Halo 4' is now the best-selling Microsoft Studios title ever in the U.S. market, surpassing its predecessor, 'Halo 3' for sales during each respective launch year."
It seems that despite not being developed by series' creators Bungie players flocked to 343 Industries' first core title in the franchise. 343 previously developed Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
Given the significant success of Halo 4 it's no surprise that Microsoft has expanded the scope of the Reclaimer Trilogy into "a saga", quite how many games are released as part of the Reclaimer Saga will of course depend on the continued success of Halo titles on Xbox One.
Microsoft announced a new Halo game at E3 but have refrained from calling it 'Halo 5'; whatever the game ultimately turns out to be, it's set for release in 2014. Most Halo titles have either been released in September or November.
Meanwhile, 343 has announced a Halo 4 Global Championship which is set to kick off at the Rooster Teeth Expo on July 5th and on Xbox Live on July 15th; you can sign up to the Championship here. Another live tournament will also be held at the gamescom expo in Germany from August 21st to 25th.
