CD Projekt Red Address Cyberpunk 2077 First-Person Character Customization Concerns

CD Projekt RED’s upcoming sci-fi action RPG title, Cyberpunk 2077is one of the most anticipated titles in the gaming industry. We first knew about the game back in 2012, and we finally got to see it in action during E3 2018 where the studio released a new trailer and started opening up about the title.

However, a few fans raised their concerns regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s first-person view, especially when the studio continuously mentions deep character customization options. Their argument is all the time spent customizing and personalizing your character will go to waste since you can’t even see how it looks on you in the normal world. Cyberpunk 2077’s Quest Designer Patrick Mills explained CD Projekt Red’s decision to go with a first-person view and discussed how the title is an “RPG before it’s a shooter.” He continued to make comparisons with Geralt from the studio’s critically acclaimed The Witcher franchise.

Well, it’s an RPG. It’s an RPG before it’s a shooter. And it’s really about making a character and inhabiting that character and living in this world and making choices from not just the point of view of that character but also of yourself. With The Witcher, you had Geralt, and Geralt had a history. He had decades of books, games, comics, and even television series, with a new one on the way, and it was about guiding him through his story. But with this, we want it to be your story. So really, putting you in first person is the only way to do that.

The studio released an episodic series, where they analyse the official E3 trailer, found below, frame-by-frame. The latest was regarding the Night City’s gun laws, and they are pretty loose to say the least. Cyberpunk 2077 still doesn’t have a release date but we’ll update you once anything is confirmed. For now, here is everything you need to know about the title.
