Total War: Rome 2 Campaign Map Revealed

June 13, 2013 by Stephen Daly

New screenshots also released.

In an interview with GameSpot would-be generals have caught their first glimpse of Total War: Rome II's campaign map while new screenshots of the turn based strategy title have also emerged.

As you can see from the map above Rome II includes regions such as modern day Iran (then Persia) and Ireland , areas never actually conquered by the Roman Empire. It has been revealed that Rome II has the highest number of regions in any Total War games to date (189), nearly double that of the original Rome. As a result, the Creative Assembly has added provinces to the game.

Provinces are made up of between two and four regions and each region within a province can be controlled a different faction. If a single faction controls all the regions in a province they can reap certain benefits such as improved production or tax income.

Rome II is already the most pre-ordered title in the Total War series and launches on PC this September. Pre-orders net players the Greek States DLC pack for free which unlocks an additional three factions in the game. You can see the interview and the new screens below and you can see the latest trailer for the game; which focuses on Cleopatra and Egypt, here.
