At Konami's pre-E3 press confernce the company announced that the voice of Snake in Metal Gear Solid 5 will be Keifer Sutherland of 24.
Sutherland was chosen because Metal Gear Solid 5 is set when Snake is 49 and Kojima wanted someone who could match that age group. Sutherland called it "an honour" to play Snake and said that while he isn't a gamer is was aware of the title.
He also commented that is was "exciting" to be a part of the project.
As recently as yesterday series creator Hideo Kojima was still putting the finishing touches on today's presentation of the game which is being developed using Konami's proprietary FOX Engine -which is also powering PES 2014. Metal Gear Solid 5 will be an open world game it has been revealed.
Trailers for The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes were released with the impression that they were different games but it was ultimately confirmed that they are, in fact, both parts of Metal Gear Solid 5.
David Hayter, unfortunately, will not be reprising the role but said Sutherland is a "Great actor, good man!". Sutherland will be giving his first interview on Spike TV soon.
The new voice of Snake is @kiefersuther – tonight @hideo_kojima_en gives his first interview about it on GTTV on Spike.
