Dark Souls: Design Works Is Coming To America, Courtesy Of Udon

June 5, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Because nothing says you’re a true fan of a game more than owning the coffee table book.

Udon Entertainment has made a real name for itself in recent years, by taking game related art books that were originally published in Japan and going through all the trouble of bringing them out in America (often going the extra mile to make unnecessary yet always appreciated enhancements along the way).

And their most recently announced release is sure to delight the legions of Dark Souls fans out there. Published originally in the east last October, Dark Souls: Design Works will finally arrive in the east later this year. On November 12, 2013 to be exact, according to Amazon's pre-order page.

The 128 page hardcover volume covers everything a diehard Dark Souls devotee would ever want to know. According to Udon themselves:

Dark Souls: Design Works showcases the grim and haunting artwork behind the fan-favorite Dark Souls game in a gorgeous full-color hardcover collection, matching the Japanese edition. Featuring key visuals, concept art, character, weapon, and monster designs, and rough sketches, this is a complete picture of the brutal world of Dark Souls. Design Works also includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and many of the game’s artists, making it a real treat for fans of the game!

Be sure to click the link to check out a six-page preview. They also list the release as being October, a month ahead of the Amazon listing. It's also worth mentioning that, another 30 days before that is the release of yet another long awaited Udon release, MM25: Mega Man & Mega Man X Official Complete Works.

It's an updated version of both Mega Man: Official Complete Works and Mega Man X: Official Complete Works, which was originally a single volume when originally in Japan, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Blue Bomber. Five years later, a revised edition was published, which included material covering Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10.

Thankfully, Udon is keeping the updated book intact this second time around.
