Next-Gen Splinter Cell Planned by Ubisoft, ‘Sam Will be Back’

May 31, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Splinter Cell is ‘a very important franchise for Ubisoft’.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist art director Scott Lee has revealed that Ubisoft are prepping a next generation entry in the Splinter Cell franchise recently telling ArabicGamer that "Sam will be back."

"Sam Fisher and Splinter Cell [are] a big and very important franchise for Ubisoft," he said, adding "and yes they do support the franchise. Obviously we're working very hard on current-gen systems and we're super excited that we're going to be across all platforms.

"For next-gen there are a lot of plans in the works, obviously we can't talk about that at the moment but I definitely look forward to seeing Sam in new adventures, bigger and better as we go along. Sam will be back," Lee concluded.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the latest entry in the series, is set to be launched on August 20th in North America and August 23rd in Europe for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U.

In March Ubisoft Toronto president Jade Raymond said the studio was working on five games, including Splinter Cell, meaning any next-gen entry in the series will also see the involvement on the Toronto outfit.
