The Last of Us DLC to Expand on Story, Season Pass Confirmed

May 29, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Naughty Dog is dipping its toe in DLC.

The Last of Us, Naughty Dog’s first attempt at crafting a new IP since the launch of the Uncharted franchise, is almost here. We’ve been anticipating this fungal adventure for years now, but don’t think that every bit of thrilling content the developer has planned for the project will be in the disc at release. Both single and multiplayer DLC will be coming to The Last of Us, and if you’re already deeply invested in the survival-horror project, a Season Pass has been announced.

Players can either pick and choose what DLC they’d like, or buy it all at a discount for $19.99. The first piece of content that will be added is single-player focused, which is the first story DLC that Naughty Dog has ever produced.

“The journey and cast of characters in The Last of Us lends itself to thorough narrative exploration, and we’ve got more of the story to tell,” said Naughty Dog community strategist, Eric Monacelli.

These specific details were also listed to be featured in the pass:

·         Increased Crafting Speed

·         Increased Healing Speed

·         9mm Reload Speed Upgrade

·         Rifle Clip Capacity Upgrade

·         “Grounded” –  exclusive 90min making of video

The other two packs will be all about the multiplayer, adding additional maps and expansions that are yet to be detailed. Actually, nothing about the multiplayer has been explain up to this point, which is very odd considering the game will be hitting the PlayStation 3 June 14. Really, all we know is that it’ll be “the best multiplayer ever conceived.”
