Abe’s Odyssey, the classic 1997 side-scrolling platformer is completely free on Steam. You’ll have to hurry to snag a copy though, the game will only be free for 48 hours. Once you hit download, however, the game will be yours to keep forever, so don’t worry about finishing the game over the next few days. Just sit back, relax and let it download.
If you haven’t played the game, it follows the story of a young Mudokon called Abe who manages to escape RuptureFarms – a meat factory which intends to turn its ’employees’ into edible treats. Take on the role of Abe as you attempt to liberate your friends.
Selected by the fickle finger of fate, Abe™, floor-waxer first class for RuptureFarms, was catapulted into a life of adventure when he overheard plans by his boss, Molluck the Glukkon™, to turn Abe and his fellow Mudokons into Tasty Treats as part of a last-ditch effort to rescue Molluck’s failing meat-packing empire.
During his escape from RuptureFarms, Abe received a vision from the mysterious Big Face, showing Abe that he must not only rescue his fellow Mudokons, but also protect all of Oddworld’s creatures from the predatory Magog Cartel.
